Not only are the colors spectacular on this piece -- the bloody corners for one really draw my attention -- but the composition itself is lovely. There is something like resignation on Remy's face, which seems to be his stance when looking back on his life. He's always seen himself as a condemned man and isn't very surprised when it catches up to him. Yet he's still asking to be saved, enough though he thinks he deserves it.
